Few years ago I read this story from a friend for the first time and this was the first one of Lynn Austin's novels I really and completely loved. It is so charming how she manages to describe the heroine in the beginning: absolutely unable to stay in the reality and therefore losing all mean of living in her eyes and still is she so likable. And then the story begins and her life is turned upside down. I love the realistic descriptions of the characters' developments and the struggles and relationships they have to deal with. My favorite character is Miss Lily she's so sneaky and lovely and so not the usual character in Christian literature. I'm sure it's not the last time I've read this book :-)
Ooooooh - das ist aber mal eine echte Entdeckung! So ein schönes Buch! So ein bissle wie Big Stone Gap trifft Broken Wheel, nur in Kentucky! Wusstet Ihr übrigens, dass die Hauptstadt von Kenntucky Francfort heisst und gerade mal etwas über 20.000 Einwohner hat? However, das ganze ist eine wirklich gelungene Small-Town-Geschichte mit vielen sympathischen Charakteren und spielt in den 30ger Jahren, in denen es die "Horseback-Librarians", die per Pferd Bücher in abgelegene Gegenden transportier haben, wirklich. Das Buch gibt es übrigens auch auf Deutsch, unter dem Titel "Die wunderbare Bibliothek"
Defintiv einer meiner Lieblingsromane, weil er mit viel Witz geschrieben ist und ich ihn deshalb immer wieder lesen kann.Geschmäcker sind bekanntlich verschieden, aber ich kann nur immer wieder vor mich hinkichern, wenn die Hauptfigur Alice von einer unvorhergesehenen Situation in die nächste tappt und dazu noch die komischsten Gedanken hegt.Die Handlung ist in sich schlüssig. Und zugegeben, es gibt am Ende eine typisch amerikanische Szene, aber nichts desto trotz fand ich den Roman erfrischen anders und meist nicht vorhersehbar.
This was my first Lynn Austin book I ever read. I immediately fell in love with the female, book loving main character and this story is so full of mysteries and action, that it absolutely never gets boring!! Each character is designed with much love and you totally start to like them all.I couldn't take the book down and was so excited to learn the truth about what happened.It's a very thrilling book, and a sort of crime stroy, but still full with love, faith and emotions.One of my favorite books :)
I won‘t Tell you a Thinge about this wonderful story, eager Not to spoil it For you in the least. Learn all about it yourself. Read it. Love it! As I did.
